Android N is now officially called Android Nougat ( «Nougat")

The company first conducted an open online vote to select the name, but did not disclose whether the word Nougat was most popular option. Introduced in March 2016 operating system is now undergoing the second phase of beta testing, and available for developers.

Among innovations Nougat recovered, for example, a new notification system, INDEX mode, an improved power-saving mode and Daydream - a new VR-platform Google.

Google has started to give the names of sweets of its operating system Android 1.5 and still continues this tradition. Android during its existence it has received many names: Cupcake, Donut, Eclair, Froyo, Gingerbread, Honeycomb, Ice Cream Sandwich, Jelly Bean, KitKat, Lollipop and Marshmallow.

The official release date of the system has not yet announced. Most likely, the launch will take place in late summer or September this year.
