Passengers will pay more: how to change the rules of the international airline

In Russia, came into force new amendments to the Air Code. They set a different airline liability for lost baggage and flight delays.
What will change for the passengers?
First of all, increase the monetary compensation for flight delays. Previously, it was calculated on the basis of a small amount - 25 rubles per hour. Now, the calculation will go as described in the Montreal Convention: "In the case of damage caused to carrying persons result of the delay, the carrier's liability in respect of each passenger is limited to the sum of 4150 special drawing rights borrowing ".
Course 1 XDR (SDR, Special Drawing Rights), according to the Central Bank, on May 29 was 88.3 rubles. Accordingly, the maximum amount that the air carrier can pay for the delay, - 366 445 rubles.
Important: in order to receive compensation, the passenger will have to prove that the delay has led to losses.
And it threatens the loss of baggage?
If your luggage destroyedLost, damaged or delayed, the Montreal Convention provides for the maximum amount of compensation in the amount of 1 000 Special Drawing Rights (about 88 300 rubles). Previously, payments were calculated differently: for 600 rubles per kilogram.
How and when to submit a claim?
If your luggage is something wrong, a claim to the carrier must be presented in written form or electronically signed document. This can be done both at the place of registration of the airline and the passenger at the place of residence.
Timing for supplying such identified. Not later:
- 7 days - from receipt, if it was bad or you are found to be missing;
- 14 days - from the date of receipt of damaged goods;
- 21 days - if there was a delay in delivery of baggage or cargo, or they have been lost.
The carrier, in turn, is obliged within 30 days from the date of receipt of the claim to consider it and respond in writing to: requirements will be satisfied or waived.
Is there still any changes?
Yes. Now the airline is responsible for the passengers and luggage only from the moment they are on board during embarkation and disembarkation. Previously, responsibility extended to as long as a passenger is in a "clean zone" after the preflight inspection, as well as the exit from the airport.
