Hermann Goering, Adolf Hitler's right hand, loved art and spent huge money on buying patterns. Once he bought the painting from Dane Meegeren, Goering thought it was original and I enjoyed from the purchase of many years. After Goering was arrested and his trial, it was found out who sold him the painting and Meegeren found. He admitted that it was a fake, which he made himself.
