How to enjoy learning: my 6 basic rules
Forming / / December 19, 2019
Can learning be fun? Many of us see this process as something forced, you just need to sustain and survive. Moreover, over the years to make himself a "dive" into new knowledge is becoming increasingly difficult. But not for me. I'm madly in love with learning. And I know how this process can be turned into a good time and to achieve results.
In this post you will not find a universal rule "how to learn the Chinese language and do nothing," I just want to Share highlights from my own experience, which will help to organize the process of self-education more comfortable.
"Perfect world"
If the situation is not conducive to concentration of attention or something "annoying", taking the time to study it will spent. Uncomfortable room, the lack of light, fresh air or free space - at me personally, these factors have a huge impact. Therefore, before you start any training, I take up the organization of your "ideal world", creating the environment in which I feel comfortable engage in favorite things, including comfortable clothing, a certain place, and objects in the room, a pillow, a special cup of water or tea and a couple of fresh fruit. During warmer months, can move to the balcony or in the garden at the cottage parents. There are no boundaries. When "my world" is ready, you can begin to learn.
your pace
No wonder some prefer sprint running, and somebody is pleased to participate in marathons. These approaches do not work only in sports but also in training. At the outset it is important to define the format in which you best work, and develop their own pace.
- I prefer to do things quickly, but for a short time? Fine! In this case, you will approach a short-format sessions, during which you will be actively promoted on its plan and make small breaks in between. The principle is simple - 15-20 minute sessions, 5-10 minutes break. The breaks can be distracted by something else, for example, to make a charge, water flowers, to eat or go out.
- For those who prefer to "dive" in the subject and "dig" in detail, will appeal to longer sessions.
Personally, I have from time to time, alternating these approaches, although in most cases the subject of great interest and can sit without interruption for several hours, losing track of time.
The start and finish - are the most important
In most cases, the best thing we remember the facts that took place at the beginning and at the end of an event, only then recreating the memory information from the middle. Agree that it is easier to remember how it all began, or what the outcome than the process itself is what is happening. This principle of operation of our brain, and should be used during school hours - starting with the most important lesson, and then to finish as the most important.
I prefer at the end to sum up all what you have learned to secure it in the memory. Tezisno and essence. I can even be repeated several times on the way to the store.
Napoleon's plans
With such plans is good to start any venture, but the implementation is very important to break the overall plan for the intermediate steps of its interim targets. What is it for:
- To formulate the main objective. Often, the overall objective is obtained rather abstract, and work on a detailed plan helps her flesh.
- To correct the error. Regular "upgrade" helps correct the scheduled plan, including new components, or, conversely, removing what is not necessary.
- Not to abandon the process midway. For me, achieving results, though intermediate - a vital motivation to move on. Without it, over time, all intentions come to naught.
- To come up with something new. When ruining the process into small segments, there are ideas themselves by what you can add to it. It can be as auxiliary resources and methods to study anything. For example, to paste the names of items in the apartment are now in the target language, always keep a small notebook in the bag for notes, or to come up with options to promote a favorite for their own results.
No. - lists, yes - Map
Mind maps (or associative card) - what you need for self-education. They have a great advantage over the lists that we all used to be - able to visually identify the information. Maps help not only structured data, but also to build them together and prioritize the relationship. A simple example: place the key word, phrase or topic in the middle of the card, connect it to the lower categories (important words, ideas, tasks, etc.) into smaller sub-branches dispose. With the help of these cards is much easier to memorize large amounts of information, not bothering to constant cramming.
Have fun and dream
And finally - take any task (to learn a foreign language, pass a refresher course, pass on the right, etc...) As a fun and exciting venture, and not as something compulsory and complicated. In addition, more often dream about what prospects will open for you new knowledge. Learn the language? Perhaps as a result you go away to another country or in a foreign lottery win. Do not limit yourself, dream to the fullest. For you, this is just another adventure that you are able to establish themselves as for their pleasure. After all, once you make the final decision.
Personally, I do these simple rules help in any process associated with learning something new. And what use and how you organize your process?
