Recently, a popular trend in the marathons and all sorts of events, and it is a bit away from the trend on a healthy lifestyle, I will explain why.
Yes, selfie party marathon in feysbuke or instagrame - it's cool (probably;), but I would like to share the reverse side of the coin from personal experience, observations, participation in seminars about running and gigabytes read on this topic.
First, even a half-marathon (21 km), to say nothing about the marathon (42 km) or ultramarathon - is serious stress to the body, and blow on your joints (as it usually asphalt or cobbles). If you besides 20 kilograms, 30, 50 overweight and you are ready for a marathon a few months, think about your poor joints, you do not Robocop, after all.
I, for example, there was no excess weight, and in preparation for the Half Marathon I did was a model of discretion in the sense that it fulfilled all the recommendations (do warm-up and hitch, special running exercise did not increase dramatically the distance to not only muscles but also the ligaments, joints, cardiovascular system is able to adapt to stress; I ran regularly on the program). But after a while, after I participate in the gym began to feel his knees. Left in general periodically inflamed after the attacks, and sit-ups, which is why I did not just drop out of the sport a couple of days - I go hard.
The problems with the heart, which may occur in the marathon, and about which we can not know (not all are revealed in simple investigations such as ECG), I generally keep quiet. Everyone remembers the tragic incident on the half marathon held in Kiev, when 28-year-old man died on the eve of the birth of his second child. A few more were scattered on the sidelines until they have assisted, because the heat, exhaust fumes and high rate made themselves felt.
To prepare for such distances need a sufficiently long period of time (not a couple of months) and good physical condition. My opinion: to begin to run should be prepared, especially if you want good results, you need strong muscles of the legs, bark - the whole body.
If you're long at any sport is not engaged, you were released from school physical education - no need to put the Challenge on Facebook and publicly recorded in a marathon a few months. Begin by walking, Nordic walking, swimming, just get active, try to be on the move every day. As for me, the ideal ratio - is when running complements other sport (fitness, PFD, CrossFit, etc.) as the cardio, which can be alternated with the bike, swimming and so on.
I do not discourage anyone from running, but run 5-10 km will be for the body better than 42 km. Among other factors, we should be considered its constitution, genetics and sports background is.
Example of athletics:
- Endomorph should do sports that require a lot of effort (shot put, hammer throw).
- Mesomorph - do sprint discipline (100-1 500 m, decathlon, pole vaulting, jumping in length).
- Ectomorph has to run a long-distance (3000 m or more).
