It would be a kind of parallel with Thanos and small Gamora who just met after the first click into the "War of infinity."

Someone thinks that this space was the soul stone, but the directors themselves call it "intermediate station" (way station). Visual effects, created this location in the "endless war", described it as "not a physical place, not a memory, but rather the most intimate moment for reflection."

The use of such an intermediate space worked with Thanos, but in the case of Tony desired emotional effect was not achieved, which was confirmed by the test screenings. The appearance of the matured daughter led the audience in confusion. That is why the scene was cut.
