Today we want to offer you a film about one of the most difficult and the most coveted championship triathlon, which takes place in Hawaii at the Kona district, - Ironman World Championship 2015! The average duration of these competitions is 9-11 hours, the film all this packed into one very intense hour.
In 1977, military couple Judy and Josh Collins (Judy and John Collins) suggested combining three kinds of the most difficult competitions that held in Hawaii: 800 m 3 km (2.4 mile) navigation (Waikiki), 180 km bicycle on the road in the district Oahu and 42 km run 195 m in Honolulu one event. For athletes, it was an opportunity to show their strength and endurance in the water (swimming) and on the road as on the wheels (bike) and on the legs (running).
February 18, 1978 in Waikiki it's only 15 people to take their first call to the Ironman and received the title of "iron men". Just a few of the rules and the route fit on three sheets of paper.
In 1981, the event moved to the stormy coast of Waikiki on the lava fields of Kona. Now athletes observed black lava fields for all practical race and struggled with a strong side wind (45 miles per hour), and all this at a temperature of 35 degrees under the sunshine withering.
